Youth Garden
Planting seeds for a fruitful future.
The Youth Garden serves young leaders ages 14-21 as they gain hands-on experience with urban agriculture. This program combines classroom and experiential learning, with classes on cooking/nutrition, food justice, financial literacy, job readiness, and youth development workshops.
All garden produce is sold through a Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA), restaurants and pop-up farm stands. All revenue generated from sales helps provides stipends, supplies and instruction.
PROGRAM BENEFITS
During the eight-week garden-based training program, youth seed, cultivate, transplant and harvest the fruits of their labor, while learning about composting, soil fertility, irrigation, and plant anatomy. They also acquire sales and marketing skills by helping to sell the produce.
